Q&A 6: Need an unlocked Smartphone?
To use Efani you must have an unlocked smartphone. US carriers do not have terms on the service itself, they use device financing to lock you in so if your device is financed by a carrier then it will be locked. You must pay for your device first, and verify that your phone is unlocked, then Efani would be happy for you to join our secure mobile community.

Q&A #7: Sell to US/CAN only?
Efani can provide our secure mobile service to residents in the US and Canada. Canadian carriers do not allow for resellers so we are limited to supporting US mobile numbers only. Our Canadian customers are set up on AT&T so the main carrier is Bell and roaming is provided by Telus and Roger. The price and features are otherwise the same for both US and Canada.

Q&A #8: Does SAFE come with international service?
The SAFE plan includes voice, sms, and data in the US, Canada, and Mexico. The plan also includes up to 10GB of international data roaming in over 170 countries. You must notify Efani Support one or more days in advance so we can set up the data roaming. You can add international outbound calling from the US for a fixed fee, or pay $10 a day to add international voice/SMS if you need more than data during your travels.

Q&A #9: Support physical SIM & eSIM?
Efani delivers our mobile service with physical SIMs or eSIMS if the phone has eSIM capability built in. We recommend using the eSIM option which adds security in the case your phone is ever lost or stolen. Be aware that DeGoogled phones do not enable the eSIM capability so you want to select the physical SIM option when ordering service online.

Q&A #11: Will my apps work the same after switching?
If you port your existing number to Efani then all of your apps will work the same. The only change required is that you will need to set up a new voicemail and Efani will provide you directions during the activation process. If you choose to use a new number, then you will need to change the settings for any application that uses your mobile number for SMS verification.

The main benefit that Efani provides is SIM swap protection with insurance. In addition, when you choose your carrier with Efani we take exclusive control over your mobile account, and the carrier employees, stores, 3rd party stores, and call centers no longer have access. Efani provides SIM swap security by using 11-layers of verification that the carriers could not afford to execute, and they have too many access points from stores, 3rd party stores, resellers, and call centers, making it impossible for them to deploy security. Q&A #10: Does Efani support LTE & 5G?
Efani sells two of the top US mobile operators so you get the same network, speed, and coverage and that includes LTE and 5G where the underlying carrier provides it. If you do not want to use 5G, then you can simply use a phone that is not enabled for 5G, or you can turn off the 5G feature on your device. Data is unlimited, but priority data is capped.
